Folklore exists in many forms, and one important aspect of folklore is the social aspect. Social bonding and togetherness comes from many things in this world, and studies show traditions and rituals being one of most impactful. Traditions and rituals bring people together, and have been proven to lighten moods. There is also evidence showing they can reduce stress and be soothing to anxiety. Folklore can be present as experiences, and at the heart of many of these experiences is something that brings people together, in this case coffee.

The focus of this website is coffee, more importantly, the impact coffee has had on generations of Americans, and how it's purpose grew from a wine like drink to a large profit commodity. Coffee has grown as a commodity throughout the years, evolving from a simple, black, stimulated drink to a huge social construct. It’s now massively customizable as a drink, flavor, and even scent. To people in America, coffee isn’t just something to keep you awake, it’s the beginning of thousands of social interactions. Coffee in its many forms has had traditions and rituals stemming from its growth throughout the years.
Coffee's first folklore tale is one of a goat herder named Kaldi whose goats snacked on some coffee beans and then proceeded to jump and dance around with a lot of energy. Kaldi tried the beans himself, and he felt a similar surge of energy from the beans. (coffeecrossroads.com)
